We’re just shy of 100 days until Free Comic Book Day, which takes place at comic shops across the country on May 5, 2018. To celebrate Free Comic Book Day has released a list of this year’s comics along with some previews of the comics from PREVIEWS Prevue’s. You can view the full list here, but here are some of the spooky and geeky titles coming to this year’s event.
Overwatch & Black Hammer
I’m a huge fan of the Overwatch video game and one of the great things Blizzard has done to help build the world of Overwatch is releasing digital and physical comics as well as video shorts and more to help tell the story of the characters and world of Overwatch. For Free Comic Book Day 2018, you can pick up a copy of Overwatch & Black Hammer from Dark Horse Comics.
Invader Zim: Floopsy Bloops Shmoopsy
The Hot Topic generation (is that even a thing?) will remember this little green guy from his short-lived animated series on Nickelodeon. In this free reprint of Invader Zim #20 the funny green alien watches an awful television show called Floopsy Bloops Shmoopsy…all 385 seasons of it, and its bad.
Riverdale
This dark take on the Archie comic book characters has taken the CW by storm and this free comic will be set in the same universe as the TV series and will reveal a number of secrets overheard by Pop Tate in his day-to-day business.
Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake Special
Longtime readers have probably discovered by now that I’m a huge fan of the Cartoon Network series Adventure Time. In this special Free Comic Book Day exclusive story, Fionna and Cake take a look at some of their favorite times together over the years before they jump off into another adventure.

Howard Lovecraft’s Big Book of Summer Fun
If you recognize the name Howard Lovecraft, you may remember him from the other Free Comic Book Day event Halloween Comicfest, where Lovecraft had a title in 2017. He has since gone on to star in the animated feature film Howard Lovecraft & The Kingdom of Madness starring Mark Hamill. In this Free Comic Book Day comic, you’ll uncover the events leading up to the feature film. The comic will also include a new story from Steam Engines of Oz, which leads up to the events from that film, along with games, puzzles, contests, augmented reality, and animation tips from professional animators.
Lady Mechanika
Another Freek Comic Book Day and Halloween Comicfest veteran, Lady Mechanika returns for an all-new 13-page short story where she uncovers clues to the secret origins of her mechanical limbs and meets a new character who will be a big part of a future story.
