A ‘Hocus Pocus’ Sequel Is Being Developed for Disney+

Hocus Pocus

When the original Hocus Pocus was released in 1993 it was a flop. The film brought in just $39 million worldwide on a $28 million budget. But over the years, the film garnered a significant cult following and has quickly become one of the season’s most beloved films, airing a record 27 times on Freeform last Halloween season. Its growth in popularity earned it a sequel in book form titled “Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel,” which was released in 2018, but now we’ve learned that a movie sequel is in the works over at Disney+

The news was originally reported by Collider, who shared that the film was in very early stages of development with TV writer-producer Jen D’Angelo (“Workaholics”) tapped to write the film.

Details on whether or not this would follow the storyline of the book, or if this would be an all-new sequel take are note yet available and nobody from the original film is currently tied to the project, however sources did say that D’Angelo has been tasked with finding a way to bring back the original cast of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson Sisters.
