In June, I shared that Belgium-based LEGO builder Amber Veyt had submitted her concept for a LEGO Sanderson Sisters cottage from Hocus Pocus to LEGO Ideas in hopes of it becoming an officially licensed LEGO product. On Sunday, LEGO Ideas revealed that Veyt’s creation, along with a record-breaking 34 other product ideas, have qualified for the latest round of LEGO Ideas review.
Veyt’s creation received the needed 10,000 supporters required to move on to the review phase. During this phase, LEGO Ideas will interview the 35 creators who made it to this round and ultimately decide which sets, if any, will be turned into an actual LEGO product. When selecting a product, LEGO takes into consideration not only the quality of the set, but the viability of the set based on licensing, sales projections, and the like. Results will be announced in early 2021.
Veyt’s Hocus Pocus house concept features nearly 3,000 pieces, including 11 character minifigures. The set can be customized to look like the modern-day Sanderson Witch Museum complete with signage, rope barriers, and cash register, or you can remove these elements and simply make the Sandersons Sisters’ home. Notable features on the property also include a water wheel that actually turns and the grave of Billy Butcherson. The set also features a number of accessories like the Sanderson Sisters’ spellbook, the black flame candle, and a broom, mop, and vacuum for the sisters to ride.
Hocus Pocus fans were extremely excited about this creation when I first shared it earlier this year. Since my initial posting, Veyt appears to have added some additional imagery and elements from the set to the Ideas page, so definitely check it out if you haven’t already. I think I speak for all Hocus Pocus and LEGO fans when I say that I hope this set gets the green light to become an official LEGO product.
I love it! However I hope they improve Winifred’s iconic hairstyle. The version the rest look great!
