I love Halloween commercials, though these days I feel they aren’t nearly as prominent as they were when I was growing up, which is why I’m always excited when I come across new ones. So far this year GEICO was the only brand I saw putting a lot of effort into integrating Halloween into their ad campaigns, but this week Skittles decided to get into the mix as well with their first Halloween commercial since 2014.
The ad stars Matty Cardarople, who has been a regular in Skittles commercials for a number of years, but more recently appeared in “Stranger Things 3.” The ad plays a lot like Hansel and Gretel in that the witch appears to have lured Cardarople with the promise of candy in the hopes of eating him, but her plan backfires when she runs out of Skittles and her new house guest becomes persistent about her giving him more of the fruity candy.
