A24 Bringing ‘X’ Back to Theaters for a One-Night Engagement Ahead of ‘MaXXXine’ Release

Mia Goth as Maxine from the "X" movie poster

Ti West is set to conclude the “X” trilogy with the release of “MaXXine” on July 5. Ahead of the film’s release, A24 is re-releasing the movie that started it all for a special one-night theatrical engagement.

“X” debuted in 2022 and stars Mia Goth in a dual role, portraying both a young aspiring actress and the film’s villainous older woman. The film is set in 1979 and follows a young filmmaking crew who rents a secluded farmhouse in Texas to shoot an adult movie. But when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.

By the film’s end, Goth’s Maxine Minx is one of the few survivors. The upcoming “MaXXXine” picks up six years after the events of “X” and finds Minx as a successful adult film star, still looking for a way to break into mainstream Hollywood.

“X” will return to theaters nationwide on June 18 for a one-night-only fan event. The film will be followed by an exclusive post-credit sneak peek at “MaXXXine.” Tickets for the event are on sale now through Fandango.
