A24’s “Y2K” will make its streaming debut exclusively on Max on Friday, April 4, 2025. The film will then debut on HBO linear on Saturday, April 5 at 8 PM ET.
Directed by SNL alum Kyle Mooney, “Y2K” explores what might have been if the predictions of the Y2K scare, leading up to the year 2000, had come true. The film takes place on the last night of 1999 when two high school juniors crash a New Year’s Eve party, only to find themselves fighting for their lives in this dial-up disaster comedy.
The film stars Rachel Zegler (“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes”), Jaeden Martell (“IT”), Julian Dennison (“Deadpool 2”), The Kid Laroi, and Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit fame who plays himself in the film.
“Y2K” was co-written by Mooney and Evan Winter, and produced by Evan Winter, Jonah Hill, Matt Dines, Alison Goodwin, Chris Storer, and Cooper Wehde.
