On Wednesday, Lionsgate unleashed an all-new trailer for its horror-comedy “The Blackening” from Director Tim Story (“Ride Along”) and writers Tracy Oliver (“Girls Trip”) and Dewayne Perkins (“Brooklyn Nin-Nine”). The latest trailer features new clips from the film and viewer reactions, highlighting some of the laughs and scares the film brings.
“The Blackening” skewers genre tropes and poses the sardonic question: If a horror movie’s entire cast is Black, who dies first? The film centers around a group of Black friends who reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer. Forced to play by his rules, the friends soon realize this isn’t a game.
“The Blackening” stars Grace Byers, Jermaine Fowler, Melvin Gregg, X Mayo, Dewayne Perkins, Antoinette Robertson, and Sinqua Walls, with Jay Pharoah and Yvonne Orji. The film arrives in theaters on June 16, 2023.
