NECA on Monday held a virtual Comic-Con panel via its YouTube channel to unveil some of the figures it would normally have previewed or unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con, which had its in-person event canceled again this year due to COVID-19. The hour-long presentation was filled with discussions around releases both old and new and among the announcements were a slew of horror-themed releases coming in the next year or so.
Bride of Chucky
For fans of the film “Bride of Chucky,” NECA unveiled a new figure two-pack that will be released later this year featuring clothed Tiffany and Chucky. Each figure will be fully posable and will come with a slew of weapon accessories used in the film. Chucky will also come with a second head sculpt, and Tiffany’s dress will be wired for custom posing.
Halloween II
“Halloween II” will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year. NECA is releasing a special “Halloween II” Ultimate Figure two-pack featuring Michael Myers and Sam Loomis from the film to commemorate the event.
This new two-pack will feature the first-ever fully articulated Loomis figure, which will come with interchangeable arms to pose the figure with or without his removable trench coat and gun and lighter accessories.
The Michael Myers figure will come with two portraits, the blood tears mask and regular mask, and will have an updated color scheme to match the look of his coveralls in the second film. The figure will also come with all of his weapons from the film, including a syringe, hammer, and knife, as well as a skull jack-o-lantern inspired by the films’ poster.
The set will also come with fire accessories so that fans can recreate the final scene from the film with Michael engulfed in flames.
The Thing
Another film celebrating its 40th anniversary next year is “The Thing.” Following the success of NECA’s “The Thing” Macready Ultimate Figure, NECA announced its Station Survival Macready figure, which will be released next year. The new figure will come with a removable flame thrower backpack accessory along with a handful of other accessories from the film, including the petri dish with the blood test that unveils which character was “the thing” in the film.
And while NECA didn’t share any images of the figure, another film celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2022 is “Creepshow.” During the event, NECA announced a new Ultimate Creep figure, inspired by the character from the film. The figure will be released in 2022 for the anniversary and include multiple portraits, a candle accessory, and feature a wired robe for posing.
For fans of the “Predator” franchise, NECA also announced during its Comic-Con panel that while it had released several figures from the lost tribe from “Predator 2”, it recognizes that it had only released six of the 10 members of the tribe. While NECA had nothing to show as part of the event, it did announce its plans to complete the series with the remaining four members of the tribe.
Alien vs Predator
And for fans of “Alien vs. Predator,” NECA announced it would be releasing variants of its previously released Alien figures inspired by the “Alien vs. Predator” Capcom arcade game. The new Razor Claw, Chrysalis, and Arachnoid variants will feature updated articulation and a darker movie-based color scheme. The previous figures featured a vibrant color scheme to match their arcade game appearance.
Each new Xenomorph figure will get an individual release and is expected to be released later this year.
Gremlins 2: The New Batch
For fans of NECA’s Gremlins figures, the toymaker announced it would be expanding on its “Gremlins 2” figures, unveiling a new Demolition two-pack. The two-pack will come with two gremlins and a slew of destructive accessories, including a TNT barrel, circular bomb, hammer, and many more. In fact, there are so many accessories for this set they said it would be like getting a two-pack and accessory pack in one.
And while they didn’t offer any specific details on the figure, NECA also teased it would be releasing a figure inspired by the Brain Gremlin from “Gremlins 2” sometime in the future.
More details and images of these new announcements are sure to be revealed in the coming days on NECA’s socials, so be sure to check them out on Twitter and Instagram. Which new figures are you most excited about? Let me know down in the comments, or hit me up at @allhallowsgeek on social media.
