Archie Comics has announced plans to launch a new series built upon the bestselling one-shot Jughead: The Hunger. The series is expected to launch this October and builds upon the story of Jughead Jones, who in the one-shot uncovers his dark lineage and is revealed to be a werewolf.
“We purposely left the door open with the one shot, we told you if you made Jughead: The Hunger a hit we’d make more — and since you more than held up your end of the bargain — here we are,” writer Frank Tieri said in a statement. “Fans can expect more of everything they loved about the one shot now as we expand our universe — more werewolf Juggie, more bad ass Betty, more conflicted Archie and more twists and turns than you can shake a severed arm at.”
The series will be illustrated by Pat and Tim Kennedy, who were previously responsible for the 2014 “Death of Archie” storyline.
The new series debuts in comic shops and on digital platforms just in time for Halloween on October 25th, 2017 and features covers by Francesco Francavilla, Robert Hack, and Michael Walsh.
