Artist Butcher Billy has produced a new series of images that pay tribute to one of horror’s most influential authors, Stephen King. Â Titled Stephen King’s Stranger Love Songs, the image series, “imagines an alternate universe in which some of the most hopeless, desperate and tragic heartbreak songs of the 70’s and 80’s were actually novels written by Stephen King.” Â The series of 18 covers features songs like Total Eclipse of the Heart, Careless Whisper, and Every Breath You Take.
On Behance, where the images are being sold as prints, t-shirts and a slew of other items, the concept of the series is described as a, “look at the dark side of love through the lenses of pop culture, bringing twisted aspects of his classic stories to play with the original meanings of the songs – that can be completely subverted or strangely emphasized, while paying tribute to the vintage design of the original book covers.”
This isn’t Butcher Billy’s first round with 80’s music and the horror genre. Â Last year the artist created a series titled Tales From The Smith, which put The Cure frontman Robert Smith on the covers of comic books titled after famous Cure songs.
