On Thursday, Warner Bros. Pictures released the first full trailer for “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” The highly anticipated sequel sees Michael Keaton return as the iconic ghost with the most alongside his original “Beetlejuice” costars Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara.
The new trailer gives us a better look into the sequel’s plot, which looks to revolve around removing the barrier between the world of the living and the dead following the death of Deetz matriarch Charles Deetz, played by Jeffrey Jones in the original film.
Of course, Beetlejuice is at the heart of it thanks to Lydia Deetz’s daughter Astrid (Jenna Ortega), who accidentally summons him when she stumbles upon the model of Winter River in the attic and says “Beetlejuice” three times despite her mother pleading for her not to. With trouble brewing in both realms, the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.
The trailer also gives us our first look at some newcomers to the world of Beetlejuice, including Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe, who look to be significant characters in the world of the dead and possible antagonists in the film.
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” will arrive exclusively in theaters on September 6, 2024.
