On Thursday, Capcom announced that “Resident Evil 4” will be the next game in the “Resident Evil” franchise to get a remake. Capcom has already remade the first three games in the franchise, with the last release being “Resident Evil 3” remake in 2020. The updated take on “Resident Evil 4” was announced for a March 24, 2023 release.
The game will be a remake of the original 2005 survival horror title. In addition to reworking the story, the “Resident Evil 4” remake will provide both fans of the series and newcomers alike with a fresh gameplay experience, featuring highly immersive visuals powered by the cutting-edge graphics technology of Capcom’s proprietary RE ENGINE. The game will be available for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC when released.
“Resident Evil 4” takes place six years after the biological disaster in Raccoon City. Leon S. Kennedy, one of the survivors of the incident, has been recruited as an agent reporting directly to the president of the United States. With the experience of multiple missions on his back, Leon is sent to rescue the president’s kidnapped daughter. He tracks her to a secluded European village, where there is something terribly wrong with the villagers. And the curtain rises on this story of daring rescue and grueling horror.
During the announcement, Capcom also announced that its game “Resident Evil Village” is coming to PlayStation VR2 on the PlayStation 5 as part of its further expansion of the “Resident Evil” series. In addition to making the compelling story and diverse characters of the game’s well-received story mode available to enjoy in VR, Capcom will offer an even more evolved gameplay experience by incorporating advanced audio and visual technology.
