Since Friday, Mezco Toyz has been hosting Mezco Toyz Fair; a virtual product reveal event to showcase some of the toys and collectibles that would have premiered during Toy Fair New York, which was canceled this year due to COVID-19. Today, the collectible toymaker unveiled the latest figure in its LDD Presents line, and it’s inspired by the 1982 film “Creepshow.”
The new figure is inspired by the “Creepshow” segment “Father’s Day,” in which the father of a wealthy family is bludgeoned to death by his daughter after demanding a cake on Father’s Day. Remorseful, the daughter visits her father’s grave each year on Father’s Day, but this time she accidentally brings him back.
Rising from the grave, the undead father returns to the family home to avenge his death and finally get his cake. The figure is inspired by the final scene in the short where the undead father bursts through the door holding the decapitated head of Sylvia on a silver platter, complete with frosting and candles, exclaiming, “Father’s Day, and I got my cake. Happy Father’s Day!”
No other details were included with the reveal, meaning a price point, release window, and where to purchase will likely be announced at a later date.
This is the second reveal during Mezco Toyz Fair inspired by the film “Creepshow.” On Friday, Mezco unveiled a new The Creep Roto Plush inspired by the host of and one of the film’s primary antagonists.
