If you thought Catherine Hardwicke was done with vampires after the success of her 2008 film Twilight, think again. Deadline reports that the director has been tapped by The CW to direct the pilot for the network’s television adaptation of “The Lost Boys,” which was announced last month.
Deadline also reports that The CW has cast most of the show’s main characters including Michael Emerson, who was played by Jason Patric in the original film, his mother Lucy who was played by Dianne Wiest, vampire bad boy David, who was portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland and Stella, a new character based on Jami Gertz’s character Star.
“Teen Wolf” star Tyler Posey has reportedly been cast to play Michael Emerson, one of the two brothers at the heart of “The Lost Boys” story, with “Kingdom” actress Kiele Sanchez cast as the boys’ mother.
Rounding out the announced cast is Dakota Shapiro, who will play David, the leader of the vampire biker gang and Medalion Rahimi, who will reportedly play a new character named Stella, who is based on the character Star from the 1987 film.
Written by Heather Mitchell, “The Lost Boys” series will follow a similar plot to the original film.
