In years past, composer and former Oingo Boingo frontman Danny Elfman often set Halloween for his “The Nightmare Before Christmas” concert experience, but after his successful Coachella performance this past April, Elfman is changing things up a bit for 2022. This week Elfman took to social media to announce his first-ever career-spanning headlining performance at the Hollywood Bowl.
Set for October 28 and 29, 2022, Elfman has referred to the performance as a “Coachella-Plus” concert. Calling the show “From Boing to ‘Batman’ to ‘Big Mess’ and Beyond,” the concert performance will be similar to his performance at this year’s Coachella but with, more songs from his days in Oingo Boingo, more highlights from his film scores, and additional performances from his 2021 double album “Big Mess.”
Elfman will be joined by the same band, full orchestra, and choir that performed with him at Coachella during these performances. While this concert experience will feature music from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” Elfman noted on social media, “Sorry to say this Halloween, my show is NOT for the kiddies!” Darkwave duo Boy Harsher will open for Elfman.
American Express Card Members are getting first dibs at tickets for the event, which will be on sale to them exclusively through August 25. Public onsale starts Friday, August 26, at 10 am PDT.
