The Haunted Mansion turns 50 this week and to celebrate Disneyland is releasing all new merchandise and food commemorating the attraction’s anniversary. Both will be available at Disneyland Park starting August 9, 2019. Check out some of the highlights below!
First, the park has unveiled a new Host A Ghost product, these themed jars each contain a different playful spook from the Haunted Mansion including Constance Hatchaway, Professor Phineas Plump, The Hatbox Ghost, and others. “With a ghostly giggle and a simple tap on these jars, Madame Leota will conjure your spirit to materialize for you.” The jars are available at a dedicated cart in New Orleans Square.
The park is also releasing a new pair of Mickey ears commemorating the 50th anniversary of the haunted attraction which uses a special 50th-anniversary variation of the attraction’s famous wallpaper as the base and two ghostly images of the mansion and the hatbox ghost on the ears.
In addition to the Mickey ears, the park is releasing new tees and jewelry, which you can see over at the Disney Parks blog.
For the Haunted Mansion fan foodies, Disney has also unveiled new foods inspired by the classic attraction, which will be made available at locations all around the mansion. Here are some of the highlights.
At Rancho del Zocalo, you can feast on “The Long Forgotten Duelist Tacos,” two fry bread tacos with grilled fajita beef and braised butter chicken served with Mexican rice and pickled vegetables.
For fans of Constance and her long line of departed grooms, you’ll be able to enjoy both a bride and groom churro to celebrate the mansion. The Bride Churro will be available at the New Orleans Churro Cart and is elegantly dressed in a bouquet of vanilla and sugar. The Groom Churro will be available at the Critter Country Churro Cart and is a classic churro dressed in a duo of dark and milk chocolate. Try not to lose your head over it.
At Hungry Bear Restaurant guests can enjoy “The Caretaker,” crispy pork belly seasoned with house spices, layered with BBQ sauce, grilled onions, cheese sauce, house-made pickle, and crispy slaw, served on a potato roll with french fries. For dessert, enjoy a Dead-cadent Funnel Cake featuring a decadent brownie, white chocolate raspberry ice cream and chocolate pearls. Items will be available at Hungry Bear Restaurant through August 25, 2019.
At the Blue Bayou Restaurant, you’ll be able to enjoy two new dishes inspired by the attraction as well as a dessert. The “We’ve BEAN Dying to MEAT You!” is a spiced stew of pork sausage, oxtails, and kidney beans with Louisianna popcorn rice. The “Dynamite Seafood Hush Puppies” are spicy hush puppies with shrimp, tasso ham, corn, Bloody Mary aïoli and greens. Finally, for dessert you can enjoy the “Opera Singer Cake,” a sponge cake with coffee, chocolate ganache, chocolate glaze, coffee buttercream, Chantilly cream and raspberry sauce.
At Café Orleans you’ll be able to order “Sara ‘Sally’ Slater’s Swamp Fries,” which is crawfish étouffée atop sweet potato fries with chorizo, clams, tomatoes, sweet corn and green onion then follow it up with a dessert of “Swining Wake Cake,” a layered chocolate and vanilla sponge cake with caramel-banana filling, caramel buttercream frosting and a sugar candle.
At River Belle Terrace you’ll be able to enjoy “Sliders Materialize!,” a duo of sliders featuring a spicy pork belly slider served on toasted brioche and topped with crips cabbage slaw and pomegranate vinaigrette and a savory pork belly slider served on toasted brioche with black pepper bacon mayo, butter lettuce, cherry tomatoes and a crispy bacon “spike.” For dessert grab a “‘Hitchhiking’ Ghost Blue Velvet Cake” featuring blueberry purée, rice croquette brittle and vanilla-blueberry crisp.
