Fathom Events to Celebrate 60th Anniversary of Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds’ with Special Screenings This October

Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" 60th Anniversary

This week, Fathom Events announced its slate of titles for the upcoming first-ever Fathom’s Big Screen Classics series. The series will run throughout 2023, celebrating the anniversaries of 11 of Hollywood’s most beloved motion pictures, and among the titles announced is Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds.”

“The Birds” will return to the big screen at select theaters on October 22 and 23, 2023. Considered one of Hitchcock’s most terrifying films, the 1963 film tells the story of wealthy socialite Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren), who travels to Bodega Bay to pursue eligible bachelor Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor), when a seagull inexplicably attacks her. Suddenly, thousands of birds flock into town, preying on schoolchildren and residents in a terrifying series of attacks. Mitch and Melanie must fight for their lives against a deadly force that cannot be explained or stopped.

The film will be accompanied by insights from film historian and critic Leonard Maltin, who will share his one-of-a-kind expertise with fans.
