Freeform has unveiled its full slate of programming for this year’s “31 Nights of Halloween” event revealing a number of returning favorites as well as some new additions.
Earlier this year, when Freeform announced the return of the Halloween programming event they shared that Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II , and the Scream trilogy would be joining the “31 Nights of Halloween” lineup for the first time in the event’s history. But that’s not the only thing that’s new for 2019. This year the Halloween programming event will also feature a “The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror-Thon,” Goosebumps, Scooby-Doo, and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed alongside returning favorites like Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and The Addams Family.
Though last year’s lineup boasted 36 different films, it was filled with a number of films that don’t typically come to mind when you think of Halloween, like Mrs. Doubtfire, The Parent Trap, and Disney’s Mulan. This year’s lineup was scaled back greatly and includes just 15 films, with the only non-Halloween film being Iron Man. With fewer films, the same films are recycled regularly throughout the month as is “The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror-thon.” This year’s lineup will also include “31 Nights of Halloween Fan Fest,” a new original special in the vein of last year’s “Hocus Pocus 25th Anniversary Halloween Bash.” The monthlong celebration will then conclude with a Hocus Pocus Marathon with the film playing on repeat all day on Halloween.
