Halloween Comes to ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ This Week

Nintendo has announced details around the free fall update, headed to “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” on the Nintendo Switch on September 30. The update will add several spooky touches to the game that Halloween lovers are sure to be excited about.

With the update, players will be able to grow pumpkins, which can be used to create pumpkin-based DIY projects like scarecrows and jack-o’-lanterns. And as you deck out your island for the Halloween season, you’ll be able to stock up on Halloween candy and get your costume ready for Halloween night. Costumes will be available for purchase from the Able Sisters shop during the month of October, and you’ll also be able to purchase body paint and colored eye contacts for Nook Miles. Players will also be able to learn Halloween DIY projects and spooky new Reactions from island residents.

The fun all leads up to Halloween Night, where a huge celebration will take place in your island plaza from 5 PM until midnight. Your neighbors will convene dawning costumes of their own, and your island will be visited by Jack, the “czar of Halloween.” By giving Jack lollipops and candy, you’ll earn spooky in-game rewards. Be sure to save some candy for your neighbors, too, or you might get pranked!

Other changes will also be coming to the game related to dreams and the NookLink App. You can read about these and the full rundown of the fall update here.
