While most of the news about the Disneyland Resort coming out of D23 Expo 2017 has been about overhauls and expansions to the park and its lands to align with Disney’s Marvel and Pixar properties, news about this year’s Halloween happenings have more or less flown under the radar.  Announced during the expo and on the Disneyland website are new details about Halloween time at both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure parks.
Disney California Adventure Park
Halloween 2017 will bring a number of new Halloween happenings to Disney’s California Adventure park. Â The park which has historically gotten very little, if any, Halloween overlay will see a Halloween presence sprinkled throughout the park for 2017. Â Details released so far include:
- The park’s Main Entrance will feature a silhouette of the Nightmare Before Christmas‘ Oogie Boogie as he beckons guests to enter while thousands of bats fill the night sky
- Inside, the Headless Horseman will appear as a statue on Buena Vista Street as bats coil around Carthay Circle’s Bell Tower.
- Radiator Springs will be transformed into Radiator Screams with Halloween decor across Cars Land.
- Cars characters will also make appearances in their Halloween cars-tumes—see super hero Lightning, van-pire Mater and more!
- Cars Land attractions Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree will also get special Halloween overlays with new music and decor
Disneyland Park
While Disney California Adventure Park is getting a taste of new Halloween offering’s, Disneyland’s announced offerings appear to be much of the same. Â The following experiences are expected to return as part of Halloween time 2017:
- Haunted Mansion Holiday
- Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy
- Main Street, U.S.A. Pumpkin Festival, where the streets are lined with one-of-a-kind hand carved pumpkins
- Dia de los Muertos celebration in Frontierland with skeleton display, face painting, and spirited Mexican treats
In addition to the above daily offerings, Disneyland will also host Mickey’s Halloween Party on select nights in September and October.  This year’s event will feature annual favorites like the ride of the Headless Horseman, supernatural fireworks show, trick-or-treat stations, meet and greets with some of your favorite Disney Villians and Halloween costumed characters and more.
Halloween time at the Disneyland Resort is scheduled to run from September 15 through October 31 2017.
