Over the last few years, I’ve made it a point of heading up to Calico Ghost Town with my family to check out their Halloween offerings. There’s something special about celebrating the spookiest season of the year in a ghost town, with a history of paranormal activity. That’s why a new event from Haunted Orange County piqued my interest. This October Haunted Orange County is headed to Calico Ghost Town in the Mojave Desert for an overnight adventure complete with an after-hours ghost tour and a chat about UFO’s.
Attendees will have the opportunity to experience Calico Ghost Town and all it has to offer during the day, but when the sun sets the fun begins as the evening kicks off with a talk on the history of the once-bustling silver mining town and its many residents now buried just a short walk away in the Calico Cemetery.
The historic talk will be followed by a compelling talk about the UFO phenomenon from Travel Channel host, UFO enthusiast, and paranormal investigator Ben Hansen. The group will then have the opportunity to meet up and eat at a local 50s diner before heading back into Calico for an after-hours private ghost tour.
The ghost tour will take guests through the town and inside the Maggie Mine where they’ll hear stories of reported paranormal activity. While I’ve never experienced the Maggie Mine tour, I was given the opportunity to experience the tour of the town last Halloween season and I can tell you, it’s a lot of fun hearing about the paranormal experiences people have had, especially when you have the town all to yourself.
The evening will culminate with a fireside chat back at the bunkhouse with Ben Hansen and some s’mores under the desert night sky.
The overnight adventure will take place on October 5, 2019 and there are two ticketing options for the event. The “Gold Strike Admission” is $125 and includes a Calico Ghost Town Day Pass, lectures, Calico Town & Mine Ghost Walk, fireside UFO sky watch with Ben Hansen, and bunkhouse lodging for one night.
For $100 you can purchase the “Silver Strike Admission,” which includes all of the evening’s festivities but no lodging.
