Black Friday. The name alone is ominous and yet year after year millions of people brave the crowds to remind the world that capitalism and consumerism is alive and well in America. I’ve never braved a Black Friday, at most I go out later in the day and rummage through the spoils of war hoping to find that diamond in the rough. This year, like in years past, many of the Black Friday ads have leaked online ahead of the big day and armed with these ads and the desire to help out my fellow Halloween and horror fan I’ve put together a list of all the deals that will matter to you creepy geeks the most.
Midsummer Scream
UPDATED: Midsummer Scream announced their 2019 convention would be their largest yet, they’ve also announced that they would be holding their first ever “Black Cat Friday,” a Black Friday ticketing event that will feature a very special ticket offer that will only be available on Friday, November 23. This exclusive ticket package includes a Gold Bat Pass to next year’s Midsummer Scream, a Black Cat t-shirt in your choice of black or grey, and a Black Cat Santa pin all for just $85. These are available in limited quantities and can be purchased here.
Ghoulish Bunny Studios
I’ve featured Ghoulish Bunny Studios, the business moniker of artist Diana Levin a few times over the years. First, for her Limited Edition Horror Bunny Icons series and more recently as one of the top 10 artists that were at Midsummer Scream 2018. She has a ton of beautiful and creepy pieces featuring some of your favorite horror and pop culture icons and for Black Friday she is holding a buy one print, get one free sale starting on Black Friday through November 26. Simply visit her online store and use the coupon code “ghoulishfriday” at checkout. Best of all, if you live in the U.S. shipping is free!
MezcoToyz
For Black Friday 2018, MezcoToyz has released a limited edition Living Dead Doll, a special Resurrection series talking variant of Chloe. Depress the button discretely located on her back to hear Chloe say one of her many, completely new phrases including “Let me out of here!” and “The spiders and worms are my only friends now.”
This limited edition variant comes complete with soul-piercing glass-like eyes, a black velvet dress a red bow around the waist, and spider web detailing around the collar.
Resurrection Talking Chloe stands 10” tall and features 5 points of articulation and is available for $65 through the MezcoToyz website. This Resurrection talking Chloe Variant is scheduled to ship this December.
The Artwork of Yosiell Lorenzo
I introduced to you to artist Yosiell Lorenzo on Instagram during Midsummer Scream and again when he launched a Kickstarter for a Victorian Halloween inspired Major Arcana Tarot deck back in September. For Black Friday, Lorenzo will be releasing a limited edition print and ornament bundle, signed and numbered, based on the old Victorian tradition of telling ghost stories on Christmas Eve night. Additionally, he’ll be releasing a set of 3 “holiday” greeting cards for those who want to keep things spooky during the holidays.
Funko
Funko is offering 20% off and free shipping on orders over $50 when you use the promo code “BFW20” Black Friday weekend and they still have a lot of great Pop! and Vynl figures in stock that I’ve featured over the last year including the David S. Pumpkins with glowing Skeletons 3-pack, Vynl Yummy Mummy & Fruit Brute, The Lost Boys Frog Brothers 2-pack, and a whole lot more.
Walmart
One of my favorite buys on Black Friday are movies and games and this year, as in past years Walmart is dumping a ton of movies and video games into their Black Friday ad with over 500 movies on sale and over 100 games at discount prices.
For my movie geeks, your DVD and Blu-ray selections will range in price from as low as $1.96 to as high as $9.96. In this category the highlights are the following titles:
- Hotel Transylvania 2 (DVD: $1.96, Blu-Ray: $3.96)
- Hotel Transylvania 3 (DVD: $3.96, Blu-ray: $7.96, 4K Ultra-HD: $8.96)

- Pacific Rim: Uprising (Blu-ray: $5.96)
- A Quiet Place (Blu-ray: $8.96)

For my gaming geeks, Walmart has you covered this year with a slew of video games ranging in prices as low as $12 to as high as $35.
Not surprisingly the cheaper games are older titles, but if you’re looking to catch up on your game collection now is a good time to stock up. In the $12 games here are some of the highlights:

- Left 4 Dead 2
- Fallout 4
- Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
