Horror Sci-Fi ‘Marshmallow” Wins Big at Panic Fest Ahead of Theatrical Release

“Marshmallow,” the debut feature from director Daniel DelPurgatorio, won big at an early screening during this year’s Panic Fest. The film, which will premiere in select theaters on April 11, took home both the Best Director for Feature Film and the Best of Fest at the horror-centric film festival.

The film’s gripping storyline and spine-chilling atmosphere helped set it apart as a standout entry at the festival, and DelPurgatorio’s direction of the film has received a positive reception for his ability to craft a tense, plot-twisting camp horror tale that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.

The horror sci-fi film, which is produced by Hemlock Circle Productions, is set at a secluded summer camp where Morgan, a shy and introverted 12-year-old, is thrust into a living nightmare when a legendary campfire tale comes to life. As a mysterious figure begins stalking the camp, Morgan and his newfound friends must embark on a perilous journey that will force them to confront their deepest fears and question the very nature of their existence.

The film stars Giorgia Whigham (“Ted”), Kue Lawrence (“The Amityville Murders”), Kai Cech (“Dear Santa”), Pierson Fode (“The Man from Toronto”), Alysia Reiner (“OITNB”), and Corbin Bernsen (“L.A. Law”).
