Horror-thriller feature “The Retaliators” is set to hit theaters worldwide on Wednesday, followed by its heavy-hitting soundtrack featuring the who’s who in rock music this Friday.
The film stars Michael Lombardi (“Rescue Me”) as Bishop, an upstanding pastor who uncovers a dark and twisted underworld as he searches for answers surrounding the brutal murder of his daughter. His findings send him down a path of revenge with plenty of twists and turns along the way. Marc Menchaca (“Ozark”) and Joseph Gatt (“Game of Thrones”) also star, alongside Jacoby Shaddix, frontman of Papa Roach, who makes his acting debut in the film.
The film’s soundtrack encompasses a hard-hitting lineup of rock tracks from several of Better Noise Music’s roster, many of which also make on-screen appearances, including Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe and Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch.
The first single off the album, “The Retaliators Theme Song (21 Bullets),” was released last month. Co-written by Nikki Sixx and James Michael of Sixx:A.M., the song features the bands Mötley Crüe, Asking Alexandria, Ice Nine Kills, and From Ashes To New.
“Writing a new theme song for a horror flick was inspiring,” says Sixx. “This was my first time writing for a horror-thriller film, and it took me in a different direction from the first theme song I wrote – ‘The Dirt (1981)’ by Mötley Crüe.
The soundtrack features 18 tracks, many of which bring together acts from across the rock world, such as Eva Under Fire with Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills and Asking Alexandria featuring Within Temptation. The digital version of “The Retaliators Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” will also include the track “Cops Are Here” from the movie’s official score, which was arranged by “Stranger Things” composers Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein. The soundtrack audio will also include snippets from the film interspersed throughout the track listing, driving the film’s main message, “If you could have a minute alone with the person who killed your loved one…would you take it?”
