In partnership with Skybound Entertainment, Broken Mirror Games have unveiled “I Hate This Place” – an upcoming open-world survival horror game set for release in Q4 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
Revealed during the Future Games Show, “I Hate This Place” is inspired by Skybound’s Eisner award-nominated comic book series created by writer Kyle Starks and artist Artyom Topilin. The game is an all-new isometric survival horror experience that plunges players deep into a supernatural world where the rules of reality come undone. The game uses a striking visual style drenched in bold, vivid colors and retro ’80s comic book aesthetics; each location is lovingly crafted to tell its own disturbing story through stylish visuals that blur the line between reality and nightmare in a world where everything wants you dead.
Players take on the role of Elena, whose fight for survival begins when she unwittingly awakens a malevolent force. Outmatched and hunted in a hostile world, players must think fast and manipulate their surroundings to even the odds against formidable foes.
Engage in tense gunfights and melee combat that rewards ingenuity over brute force, all while crafting essential tools to survive the harsh and unforgiving wilderness long enough to reach safehouses before nightfall, with the day and night cycle impacting gameplay dynamics. Whatever you do though, avoid the Horned Man at all costs.
“I love my book ‘I Hate This Place’ – a labor of horror love with series co-creator and artist Artyom Topiln,” said “I Hate This Place” writer Kyle Starks. “So, needless to say, I’m thrilled to see someone bring it to life in video game form! I can’t wait to get my hands on this game and be trapped on the terrible ranch the book inhabits!”
Broken Mirror Games is a new horror label under Bloober Team, the video game development company known for titles like “The Medium,” “Layers of Fear,” “Observer,” and “Silent Hill 2.”
“We are always looking to push the boundaries of horror in all its forms, and with this new title under Broken Mirror Games, ‘I Hate This Place’ is a testament to that vision,” said Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team. “With its blend of survival mechanics, gripping storytelling, and a distinct visual identity, we believe ‘I Hate This Place’ will immerse players in a truly unforgettable nightmare.”
“I Hate This Place” is set to launch in Q4 of 2025 and is available to Wishlist now on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
