Singer-Songwriter Ingrid Michaelson released a second single off her forthcoming album today. The song, which is titled “Jealous” is one of a larger collection of songs that will appear on Michaelson’s eighth studio album, which she shared is inspired by the Netflix Original Series “Stranger Things.”
In a press statement released earlier this month the artist shared that after seven albums written from her own perspective, the new album, which is titled, “Stranger Songs” was her way “to create something through a different lens.”
“There’s something about Stranger Things that’s really comforting, it brings me back to my childhood,” shared Michaelson in a press release. “It’s the best kind of escapism and I find myself seeking that now more than ever. I took inspiration from the show and the characters and all these ideas started to come to me. Every song on the record includes a reference from the show, some more specific than others, but all of the themes are universal – these are feelings everyone has.”
The album’s first single, “Missing You” was released on May 10 and in a Facebook video Michaelson revealed that the song was inspired by the love triangle between “Stranger Things” characters Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve. When the song was released it was accompanied by this very 80’s inspired lyric video.
“Stranger Songs” drops on June 24, and is available for pre-order now.
