Late last year, Gun Interactive announced they were developing a video game based on Tobe Hooper’s 1974 film, “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.” Since then, they’ve been hard at work bringing the world of “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” to life, crafting a storyline and new characters, and recreating recognizable locations from the film for the game. On Tuesday, Gun unleashed an unrated gameplay reveal, and by the looks of things, this game is going to be intense.
The new reveal shares the first significant look at gameplay mechanics for both killers and victims, as well as Slaughter family members, the Cook, the Hitchhiker, and even Grandpa. It also breathes new life (or maybe it’s death?) into the iconic locations from the film that are featured in the game, which were previously showcased as just static environments.
“The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” is a new 3v4 asymmetrical horror experience that tells the story of a group of college students who come in contact with the Slaughter family before the events in the 1974 film. Players will play out the events as either one of the five victims or as a member of the Slaughter family.
“The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” is slated to be released sometime in 2023 and will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, and Windows PC via Steam.
