Iron Studios this week announced that it is accepting pre-orders for its first-ever Universal Monsters statues. The new statues capture the likeness of Boris Karloff as The Mummy from the 1932 film and will be available in Standard and Deluxe editions.
The 1/10 scale Standard Edition statue is hand-painted and made of polystone and features The Mummy in his anthropomorphic sarcophagus, which can be displayed open or closed.
The Standard Edition statue costs $119.99 and is available for pre-order now through the Iron Studios website.
The Deluxe Edition version of the statue adds an additional layer of detail to the statue by supporting the statue upon a diorama base inspired by the inside of the pyramid from the film and includes the hieroglyphs and images carved into its petrified wall and a statue of the god of the dead Anubis on the back of the display.
The Deluxe Edition statue is also available for pre-order and costs $199.99. Both versions of the statue are scheduled to be released sometime during the second quarter of 2022.
In “The Mummy,” a team of archaeologists travels on an expedition to Cairo in the early 1920s and finds the tomb of Imhotep, an ancient Egyptian priest who was executed and cursed. When one of the expedition members finds and reads some manuscripts that invoke the power to raise the dead, the monstrous mummified being comes back to life. Years later, after restoring his human form, Imhotep, as Adarth Bey, an anagram of the phrase ”Death by Ra,” tries to find his former beloved princess Anck-Su-Namun, whom he believes is reincarnated as the beautiful young Helen Grosvenor.
Played by acclaimed British actor Boris Karloff, he is considered one of the greatest exponents of horror movies. The mysterious and sinister atmosphere of “The Mummy” has made this cursed undead creature one of Universal Pictures\’ most popular classic horror monsters to this day.
