Jason Voorhees Joins ‘MultiVersus’ Lineup with Video Game’s Launch Trailer

“MultiVersus,” the free-to-play platform fighter video game that brings together an expanding cast of iconic characters and legendary universes from Warner Bros. and DC Comics, released its official launch trailer on Monday. The trailer gave fans a look at the complete character launch lineup, including the surprising addition of horror icon Jason Voorhees.

The reveal suggests Jason’s first appearance courtesy of the recently announced “Jason Universe,” which, after years of licensing court battles, will allow the character and his universe to find their way into new media for new audiences.

No other details about the addition of Jason have been revealed as of this writing, but the horror icon appears to be outfitted in a look inspired by his appearance in “Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood,” complete with a chain around his neck.

Jason joins other horror icons Gizmo and Stripe from Gremlins, which made their way onto the roster late in 2022 during an early release of the game. Other notable spooky characters include Velma and Shaggy from “Scooby-Doo.”

“MultiVersus” will launch on May 28, 2024, on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store and will feature full cross-play and cross-progression support.
