This week Playmobil released its first wave of playsets and figures from its Scooby-Doo line featuring your favorite characters from Mystery Inc.
The first sets are available now exclusively from Wal-Mart (until May) and include a Mystery Machine Playset, Scooby & Shaggy with Ghost Playset, and a collection of blind-bagged collectible mystery figures based on famous villains from the classic animated series “Scooby-Doo Where Are You?”
The Mystery Machine Playset has the suggested retail price of $49.99 though it appears that Walmart is selling it for $45. The set includes Daphne, Velma, and Fred as well as a number of accessories including Scooby Snacks, a magnifying glass, and a treasure map as well as an illuminated monitor block that can display interchangeable ghost cards that come with each of the Scooby-Doo sets and figures.
The Scooby and Shaggy with Ghost playset appears to be inspired by the ghostly figure seen in the intro of “Scooby-Doo Where Are You?” and comes with a handful of accessories including a hamburger and Scooby Snacks. The set retails for $13.
Finally, series one of the Scooby-Doo Mystery figures will feature 12 of the classic “Scooby-Doo Where Are You?” villains packaged in blind-bags.
The first series of Scooby-Doo mystery figures will include the following classic villains from the animated series:
- The Ghost of Captain Cutler
- The Black Knight
- The Gypsy
- The Ghost of Geronimo
- Spooky Space Kook
- Zen Tuo
- The Ghost Clown
- The Witch Doctor
- The Creep
- The Headless Horseman
- Miner Forty-Niner
- The Snow Ghost
To celebrate the release of the new figures and playsets, Warner Bros. even released a new stop-motion animated short starring the new Playmobil figures and featuring the voice talents of the current Scooby-Doo animated series cast.
