On Saturday, as part of Netflix’s global fan event Tudum, it was announced that Linda Hamilton would join the cast of “Stranger Things” for the series’ fifth and final season.
The casting news was announced via a pre-recorded message from Hamilton that was introduced by her “Terminator” co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was on hand at the event, which was broadcast live in front of thousands of fans in São Paulo, Brazil.
“I don’t know how to be a fangirl and an actress at the same time,” said Hamilton during her video announcement. “I’m gonna work on that.” No further details about Hamilton’s role and how she’ll fit into the final chapter of “Stranger Things” were announced.
Hamilton’s casting is the first major announcement out of “Stranger Things 5” since series creators The Duffer Brothers unveiled “The Crawl” as the title of the first episode of the show’s final season during last year’s Stranger Things Day.
