Over the last month, rumors have circulated online about the return of McDonald’s iconic Halloween pails, but as the rumors churned, the fast food chain remained relatively silent, neither confirming nor denying the return of the buckets, that is, until today. After weeks of anticipation, McDonald’s has officially confirmed the return of its Halloween Happy Meal.
“We heard you loud and clear… if spooky SZN doesn’t include McDonald’s Halloween Pails, then you don’t want it. That’s why we’re bringing back the most iconic Halloween trio,” shared McDonald’s in a news release.
The McBoo, McPunk’n, and McGoblin – that first came on the scene in 1986 – will return to participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide from October 18 – 31 while supplies last. One observation now that we have official photos is that it looks like the pails will not feature lids the way they did in 1986. Instead the tops of the pails will be represented by a specially designed handle, similar to later releases of the McDonald’s Halloween pails.
No other details were shared; instead, the fast food chain focused on the reusability of the pails, likely as a means of any potential criticism around plastic waste.
This is bound to be a hot item, so you’ll want to make sure you hit your local McDonald’s starting on October 18.
