Earlier this summer, Disney announced that a new “World of Color” show would premiere at the first-ever Oogie Boogie Bash, taking place at Disney California Adventure Park this Halloween season. The show, called “Villainous!” stars a number of Disney’s most popular villains as well as an all-new character named Shelley Marie.
Early on, we learned that the story of “Villainous!” revolved around young Shelley Marie as she tried to establish what to be for Halloween. But now, in an all-new behind the scenes video, Disney animator Eric Goldberg, the creator of Shelley Marie, shares a bit more about the character and how he brought her to life.
Unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to attend this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash, but I am really looking forward to video of this new show showing up online. I like that Disney approached this one more like a short film rather than just a splash of scenes and performances we already know. I also hope Disney fans take to the new character and we see her more in the future. I love the idea of an anti-princess who loves Halloween and comes to the realization that it’s OK to be different.
