Midsummer Scream today took to social media to announce that the summer Halloween and horror convention would not be taking place in 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Midsummer Scream 2021 was scheduled to take place July 9-11 at the Long Beach Convention Center. However, with the event being postponed, it is now scheduled to return July 29-31, 2022. This is the second year Midsummer Scream has been canceled as a result of COVID-19. The 2020 event was also canceled due to the pandemic.
Those holding Midsummer Scream 2021 tickets are encouraged to hang on to them, as they will automatically roll over and be valid for the event’s 5th Anniversary celebration in 2022 at no additional cost. If you’re still holding on to tickets from Midsummer Scream 2020, holding on for another year will earn you an exclusive enamel pin, which will be distributed at Midsummer Scream 2022. But if you just can’t wait any longer and would prefer a refund, you can request one at midsummerscream.org/refundrequest.
Not all of today’s Midsummer Scream news was bad; however, while the main convention will not be taking place in 2021, they did announce the return of their Seasons Screamings event. This year, Midsummer Scream plans to host one of its largest holiday-themed events to date at the Pasadena Convention Center. The event will take place December 17-19, 2021, and feature vendors and artisans, live entertainment, and a darkened hall filled with fog, haunted attractions, displays, and more. Current Midsummer Scream ticket holders will be invited to an exclusive ticket pre-sale for the event. Tickets for Season’s Screamings and Midsummer Scream 2022 will go on sale in the months ahead.
