When Midsummer Scream announced its 2022 return to the Long Beach Convention Center in March, one of the panels highlighted was “Original Monster Kids,” an unprecedented gathering of the Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney, and Vincent Price families. Today, Midsummer Scream announced further details around the panel, including panel moderator Kirk Hammett.
Taking place in the Main Stage ballroom on Saturday afternoon, July 30, “Original Monster Kids” will feature Sara Karloff, daughter of Boris Karloff; Ron Chaney, grandson and great-grandson of Lon Chaney Jr. and Sr.; Lynne Lugosi Sparks, granddaughter of Bela Lugosi; and Victoria Price, daughter of Vincent Price. During the 90-minute presentation, these esteemed guests will share personal family stories, photos, and perhaps a home movie or two, giving fans a very personal look into the private lives of the actors who brought some of film’s most iconic characters to life.
Kirk Hammett, a renowned collector of classic horror memorabilia and lead guitarist in Metallica, will moderate the panel. As a long-time friend of the Karloff, Lugosi, Chaney, and Price families, Kirk is excited and honored to have the opportunity to moderate this panel of the original monster kids.

While Kirk Hammett will only appear to moderate the panel, the original monster kids will be on-site all Midsummer Scream weekend-long, signing autographs and meeting with fans at their respective booths.
