In April, summer Halloween and horror convention Midsummer Scream announced they were canceling their 2021 event due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. But they have since decided that at least part of the show must go on. On Thursday, Midsummer Scream announced that its in-house short film festival would become its own event and be held at the Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, CA.
The Midsummer Scream Screaming Room Film Festival, which is curated and co-produced with the team at HorrorBuzz.com, will take place on Saturday, July 10, and Sunday, July 11, 2021. On Saturday, fans will have the chance to catch film screenings from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., followed by a yet-to-be-announced secret film screening at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, the festival will host another day-long block of films and conclude with an awards ceremony and “Best of” screening at 7 p.m.
Full weekend passes are available now, with limited seating available. Weekend passes include admission to all short film screening blocks, the special/secret screening on Saturday night, and the Sunday evening awards and best of screening, as well as an exclusive credential and limited edition pin. Additional single day and event screening tickets will be available soon.
