“Hush,” the chilling home-invasion thriller from director Mike Flanagan (“The Haunting of Hill House”), is set to be released for the first time on Digitial on August 27, 2024, by Shout! Studios in collaboration with Flanagan, Intrepid Pictures, and Blumhouse. The 2016 film was released on Netflix but disappeared from the streaming service in 2023 and has never had a physical release. This is the first time fans and horror movie enthusiasts will have the opportunity to purchase or rent the film across major digital entertainment platforms.
“Hush” is a gripping horror thriller about a deaf writer who has retreated into the woods to live a solitary life. Her peaceful existence is shattered when a masked killer appears outside her window. Unable to hear the danger approaching, she must rely on her wits and limited resources to survive the terrifying ordeal. “Hush received critical acclaim following its debut at SXSW in 2016 and its initial launch on Netflix.
The film stars Kate Siegel (“The Haunting of Hill House”), along with John Gallagher Jr. (“The Newsroom”), Samantha Sloyan (“Midnight Mass”), and Michael Trucco (“Battlestar Galactica”).
Said Flanagan, “‘Hush’ is one of the projects that is closest to my heart, and I cannot think of a better home than Shout! I’m so glad that people will finally be able to rent or purchase the film digitally. I’ve always loved how Shout! Studios champions and treasures their titles, and I also cannot wait for what’s to come… fans of ‘Hush’ are going to have much to celebrate!”
Shout! Studios wrapped its announcement with the statement, “Shout! Studios and Mike Flanagan will announce additional news for fans in the coming months.” Could this suggest we’ll be getting a physical release in the near future? Only time will tell.
