‘MultiVersus’ Debuts New Gameplay Trailer Featuring Jason Voorhees

Earlier this week, the “MultiVersus” launch trailer revealed that “Friday the 13th” killer Jason Voorhees would be joining the “MultiVersus” playable character roster when the game launches on May 28, 2024. On Thursday, a new gameplay trailer arrived, showing the masked murderer in action.

Not surprisingly, the hulking killer has been revealed as a Tank and yields his signature machete and an axe. Jason looks to have a handful of moves inspired by his kills in the “Friday the 13th” films. Most notably, the new trailer shows the killer wrapping his competition in a yellow sleeping bag before tossing them off the map. The move is a nod to the iconic sleeping bag kill in “Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood,” where Jason slams Judy against a tree while wrapped in her sleeping bag.

We also see for a brief moment Jason attacking lovable Mogwai Gizmo from “Gremlins” with a bed folding move, clearly inspired by the murder of the character Trey in “Freddy vs. Jason.”

The trailer also shows what looks to be an alternate skin for the character, inspired by Jason’s appearance in “Jason X.”

“MultiVersus” is a free-to-play platform fighter video game that brings together an expanding cast of iconic characters and legendary universes from Warner Bros. and DC Comics. Jason Voorhees is among over 20 characters that will make up the roster of playable characters when “MultiVersus” launches later this month. “MultiVersus” will launch on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store and will feature full cross-play and cross-progression support.
