NECA Opens Pre-Orders for its Take on the Burger King Universal Monsters Toys from the 90s

NECA has opened pre-orders for a new four-pack of Universal Monsters figures inspired by the fast food toys of yesteryear. While they obviously won’t name the fast food chain, the Universal Monsters Crypt Club 7-inch scale action figures feature similar looks and color motifs to the Universal Monsters toys that were made available in Burger King kids’ meals back in 1997.

The Universal Monsters Crypt Club 7-inch scale action figure 4-pack is a NECA store exclusive and includes classic monsters Dracula, the Wolf Man, Frankenstein’s Monster, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. As a bit of an upgrade from the original, Dracula has a cloth cape but still comes with a hinged, embossed coffin. To add to the nostalgia, the figures will come packaged in an exclusive box evoking those fast-food toy displays we all know and love.

Unfortunately, the new figures are coming at a heftier price than the originals (you can snag a full set of unopened original figures on eBay for about $75). The new 4-pack is available for pre-order through August 15 for $149.99. To be fair, the NECA figures feature better sculpts and more points of articulation, so you are paying for an improved product. The new figures are expected to ship in October.
