This week NECA has been unveiling their founr San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) exclusive items that will go on sale later this month online in lieu of the annual convention, which was canceled earlier this year. Today, the collectibles maker unveiled their Summer Games Gremlin.
The scale action figure is inspired by a special Gremlins movie poster that was released in 1984 to promote the movie Gremlins during the Olympic Summer Games, which were hosted in Los Angeles that year. The poster declared Gremlins “The Unofficial Summer Games Movie!” and featured the gremlin Stripe in a snorkel and bathing suit with a warning that read “DON’T TAKE THEM TO THE SWIMMING COMPETITION.”
The Ultimate Summer Games Gremlin stands approximately 6″ tall and is wearing a real fabric swimsuit and is equipped with a snorkeling mask, flippers, and torch.
The figure will be released on July 23, 2020, and will be available in-store at Walmart for $29.96, or online via thenecastore.com for $34.99.
