Earlier this year, we learned that NECA would be releasing additional Universal Monsters Ultimate Figures to join its Ultimate Frankenstein’s Monster action figure. At the time, they unveiled figures of Wolf Man, The Mummy, and Dracula. The Wolf Man got a release date last month, and this week NECA has given us a release window along with new images of The Mummy.
The 7-inch scale Ultimate Mummy Action figure will be released in December in anticipation of the 90th anniversary of the Universal film. Once again, NECA has captured the likeness of Boris Karloff, this time as the ancient Mummy. The sculpt captures the intricate details of Karloff’s special effects makeup from the film and includes two interchangeable heads, two pairs of hands, and an Egyptian chest that opens. Though it appears in some of the images, I confirmed with NECA that the sarcophagus is not one of the included accessories.
Like the Wolf Man, this release is colorized and not in black and white the way the Ultimate Frankenstein figure was first released. However, I reached out to NECA to find out if anything has changed since I had last asked about black and white variants, and they confirmed that they plan to offer black and white variants of all of the Universal Monster figures, so it’ll only be a matter of time for those of us who prefer our monsters in black and white.
The Universal Monsters Ultimate Mummy figure will be released in December 2021.
