Today Netflix released a sizzle reel teasing all of it’s holiday programming for 2018, and the video starts with a little something special for fans of the new Netflix Original Series “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.” Premiering on Friday, December 14, is “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale”
While the title of the standalone episode doesn’t mention Christmas the opening, scene played in the reel does feature the show’s Aunt Hilda telling Sabrina that they are going to hunker down and watch all of Sabrina’s favorite Christmas movies, which is sure to be yet another slap in the face to Satan considering Christmas is a Christian holiday. But according to TVLine, the overall synopsis of the episode is as follows:
“The Church of Night, like all covens, celebrates the Winter Solstice — the longest night of the year — when families gather together around the Yule Fire to sing pagan carols, tell ghost stories and huddle against the supernatural creatures that come out to cause mischief. Since the Winter Solstice is when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest, it’s the perfect time to conduct a séance — which Sabrina convenes, to try and contact her mother. But the holidays are also a time for guests and visitors — both welcome and unwelcome — and you never know what might come down the chimney.”
The full sizzle reel, which features a few other glimpses of the special among a slew of other holiday programming can be seen below.
To celebrate the announcement, show creator and writer of the “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” comics Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa posted a group shot of the cast that reads, “Happy Solstice” that looks good enough to send out as a family Christmas card.
