In April, we got wind that Ferrara’s NERDS candies would be joining this year’s lineup of new Halloween treats with the introduction of NERDS Candy Corn. On Tuesday, the candy received the top accolades in “Seasonal – Candy & Snacks” from the National Confectioners Association’s (NCA) 2021 Sweets & Snacks Expo “Most Innovative New Product” awards, and with it came new details around the product and its release.
Early on, we had learned from the leaked packaging images that the candies would feature a hard outer shell and soft, chewy center, similar to Big Chewy Nerds, but as part of a press release announcing the candy’s win at the Expo, a further description of the candy was made available. While the candymaker reiterated the hard outer shell and soft, chewy center, they also unveiled that each candy corn piece contains a center with two flavors and two colors, a hallmark of the NERDS brand.
Ferrara also shared a release date for its take on the polarizing Halloween treat. Available in six different flavor mash-ups, NERDS Candy Corn will be available Nationwide starting July 15 in five sizes: 8 oz; SRP $1.99 / Dollar Tree 4 oz; SRP $1.00 / Drug Stores 10 oz; SRP $3.49 / Target 15 oz; SRP $2.99 / Walmart 11 oz; SRP $2.28.
