This August, Ghosts of Summer Halloween Market & Convention brings Halloween lovers in Portland and beyond together to celebrate all things spooky.
This first-year event will feature vendors, mini haunts, escape rooms, a “scare zone,” game room, panels, classes, and immersive horror theater.
The exhibit floor will feature over 60 of the spookiest vendors, crafters, and entertainers from around Portland. Wander the shops and stock up on Halloween Props and decor.
For those in need of a good scare and can’t wait until October, the event will feature a 3,000-square foot “Scare Zone,” which will feature displays by Punisher from Hell, local scare actors, and a cash bar. Here you’ll also find mini haunts from some of your favorite Pacific Northwest haunters, who will bring a small taste of their attractions to Ghosts of Summer. The “Scare Zone” will also be home to mini escape experiences provided by Paradigm Q/Escape Games PDX and NW Escape Experience.
During the event, you’ll also be able to hone your Halloween skills with professional Portland crafters, creators, and haunters. Take your creations home with you or learn the skills to create at home. Panels and make and take sessions include watercolor skulls, crafty witch hats, creating a home-haunt walkthrough, and more. The event’s immersive theater experience will be provided by Portland’s immersive theater company Witch Hunt Theatre, whose past productions have included “Carmilla,” “Closer Than You Think,” “The Holiday Dinner,” and “Lost in the Woods.”
Each night after the vendor floor closes, the event will host screenings of a classic horror film.
The Ghosts of Summer Halloween Convention will be held on August 5 and 6, 2022, at the Oregon Convention Center. Single-day and two-day passes are available now for Ghosts of Summer. The Ghosts of Summer Halloween Convention is led by a small group of friends with combined histories of work in theatre, music, visual arts, event producing, and teaching who had a love for the Halloween season’s celebrations in the Portland area and a desire to bring all creators, patrons, and enthusiasts under one roof.
