New Trailer Arrives for Rob Zombie’s ‘The Munsters’

When Rob Zombie dropped a teaser for his take on “The Munsters,” it was a recreation of the original television sitcom’s opening sequence. It didn’t give us much to go off of in terms of plot or character performances. On Wednesday, Zombie released the first trailer for the film and gave us our first taste of the film’s style, tone, and actor performances.

Zombie’s reboot of “The Munsters” is centered around the family’s move from Transylvania to an American suburb, and by the looks of the trailer suggests the film will explore the origins of The Munsters and how Herman and Lily come to be a couple, much to Grandpa’s dismay. This might explain the lack of Eddie Munster in any casting news or behind-the-scenes footage shared by Zombie on social media.

“The Munsters” television series originally ran for two seasons on CBS from 1964 to 1966, spawned three films starring the original cast and multiple reboots, including “The Munsters Today” back in the 80s and “Mockingbird Lane” back in 2012. Zombie’s new take on the classic series is reportedly headed to the streaming service Peacock in September.
