On Tuesday, Walt Disney Studios debuted a new trailer for “Haunted Mansion.” If you’re familiar with the famous theme park attraction the movie is based on, the trailer showcases several ghostly residents that you might recognize, most notably Constance Hatchaway, the ax-wielding bride from the attic scene.
Other notable specters in the trailer include the duelists, hitchhiking ghosts, organist Victor Geist, and Jared Leto as The Hatbox Ghost. This movie looks to be filled with easter eggs. I’ve watched the trailer half a dozen times already, and beyond the ghosts, every frame seems packed with nods to the theme park attraction, its decor, and its rooms.
Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, “Haunted Mansion” is directed by Justin Simien and features an all-star cast ensemble cast that includes LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Chase W. Dillon, and Dan Levy, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Jared Leto.
The film tells the story of a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters.
Haunted Mansion is produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with Nick Reynolds and Tom Peitzman serving as executive producers.
