On Tuesday, A24 released the official trailer for the prequel to the horror film “X,” which will tell the “X-traordinary” origins of the starlet turned senior sex fiend Pearl.
The film is written and directed by Ti West, who also wrote “X,” and features the return of Mia Goth as Pearl, though playing her as a much younger version of the character. The movie, titled “Pearl,” tells the backstory of Pearl, who we meet in the film “X” as a much older woman living in a farmhouse. “Pearl” will chronicle how the character became the violent, hypersexual person we saw in “X.”
“X” was released this past March. Set in 1979, the film follows a young film crew that sets out to make an adult film in a farmhouse in rural Texas, but when they’re found out by their elderly hosts (one of which is Pearl), the horror ensues.
“Pearl” arrives in theaters on September 16, 2022.
