This week Pinterest released its 2019 Halloween Report showing the years top trending ideas for the holiday, including costumes, makeup, food, decor and more.
2019 Costume Trends
Among most popular Halloween costumes in the U.S. for 2019, the Powerpuff Girls and “Stranger Things” lead the pack with Powerpuff Girls being the most searched costume in 11 states and “Stranger Things” being the most searched in 10. Other popular costume themes outside of the big two included circus and alien-themed costumes. You can check out what was most popular in your state in the below map, which was released by Pinterest.
On a global scale, mermaids are turning out to be the most sought after costumes coming out on top in regions like Central and South America and Southern Europe.

In other categories Pinterest explored for the report, they found that “Stranger Things” is dominating Halloween 2019 with users looking to Pinterest for inspiration for “Stranger Things” group costumes, makeup, and Halloween decor, with Steve Harrington and the Demogorgon topping the list of top trending “Stranger Things” costumes.
