On Wednesday during the PlayStation Showcase 2023, The Glory Society unveiled its follow-up to 2017’s “Night in the Woods” with “Revenant Hill,” a game where you take on the role of Twigs the cat, a cat who’s fallen on hard times and is forced to do odd jobs to make ends meet.
Set in 1919, Twigs takes up residence in a wet log near an abandoned graveyard after the barn he was living in burns down, but when an owl from the next hill over starts demanding rent, Twigs must find a way to make ends meet.
“Grow crops to sell at the secret market or use for your own purposes,” wrote technical designer Coby West on PlayStation’s blog. “Put down roots. Run through the fields and the trees. Watch the seasons pass. Make friends who become neighbors who become family. Also make enemies.”
He goes on to share even more, including that Twigs’ dream job is being a fully licensed familiar. But while it might sound like nothing more than a life simulator, there is something dark at play in the background. “Something big and dark is at work in the towns, the factories, in the forests and hills. At some point, someone is going to have to push back. And they can’t do it alone,” adds West.
Further details are slim, and no release date has been announced, but “Revenant Hill” will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam.
