Last month we learned that the theatrical release of the first full-length animated Scooby-Doo adventure SCOOB! had been postponed due to COVID-19 with a release date of TBD. Today, Variety has reported that Warner Bros. has opted to forgo a theatrical release and will instead launch the film on digital platforms.

On May 15, the film’s original theatrical release date, SCOOB! will be available on digital platforms to rent for $19.99 in the U.S. and Canada and will be available for purchase for $24.99.

“While we’re all eager to be able to once again show our films in theaters, we’re navigating new, unprecedented times which call for creative thinking and adaptability in how we distribute our content,” Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff said in a statement. “We know fans are eager to see ‘Scoob’ and we’re delighted we can deliver this feel-good movie for families to enjoy while they’re home together.”

SCOOB! tells the never-before-told stories of Scooby-Doo’s origins and the formation of Mystery Inc. It is also rumored to be the first film in a planned Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe and includes other characters from Hanna-Barbera cartoons like The Blue Falcon, Dynomutt, and Captain Caveman.
